Laura Jones of Masco Cabinetry and future homeowner Brianna Clifton working on the 100th House

Merillat® is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley to build their 100th house! With a small space at hand, designers are continuing the Merillat tradition of a fun and functional kitchen. The 100th House, appropriately named The Merillat House, is just another example of Merillat and Habitat for Humanity’s efforts around affordable housing and focus on neighborhood revitalization.

The renovation will include Merillat cabinets along with DeNova countertops to fit perfectly together in both the kitchen and bathroom. With so many choices for cabinetry and countertops regarding style and color, we let the family choose the cabinetry and countertops that best fit them!

While the family chose the Somerton Hill Arch Cherry Wood door in Paprika with Ebony glaze finish, designers added a handful of great features and smart storage solutions to make the kitchen work just right. The deep tray base storage drawers are being installed to accommodate large pots with ease – maximizing the small space to allow the right amount of storage. Other features to be included in the Merillat House are the base cutlery tray and an up to date trash and recycling center to allow for easy ‘green’ clean-up.

StoptheGlopiPhoneWe are so excited about the launch of our new and revolutionary CoreGuard™ Sink Base that we’ve created a game about it called Stop the GLOP!  The under-sink environment can be a messy place. In this fun new game, you can scour common under-sink drips, spills and glops, using a sponge or a bucket to catch under-sink spills before they damage your cabinet floor.  Set your level of difficulty by choosing between the bucket (normal difficulty level), or the smaller sponge (hard difficulty).

Merillat Classic Spring Valley in Oak Cider

As the hub of the home, the emphasis on design style in today’s kitchen is greater than ever before.  With so much of our time spent in the kitchen, it’s only natural that we’ve begun to gravitate toward cabinetry that looks like furniture, and appliances that are integrated into their surroundings or make a bold design statement of their own.

For those who can afford them, high-style, high-end appliances lend a wonderful aesthetic all their own to the kitchen. From professional six-burner gas stoves to glass-front refrigerators with architectural curves to retro-modern appliances in an array of crazy colors, there are a lot of great options from which to choose.

You may have experienced a paradox in your kitchen: you have lots of cabinets, but when you bring something new home you don’t have anywhere to put it. No one wants to admit what’s staring them in the face whenever they open their kitchen cabinets – clutter.  It can slow you down and keep you from finding what you need. Some of us use our cabinets as a hiding place, shoving random items in without thinking about how we’ll find them again or what they may be blocking.

Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to get back on track.  Here are a few simple strategies to help you declutter, reorganize, and reclaim your kitchen.
